I felt so happy to see my favourite first cousin in Chicago this summer. Although her body had become frail her wonderful spirit kept shining through. Marian's spirit remains with me, especially as I walk among the limestone cracks in the Burren, where we had tracked wild goats or along Dromore's watery shores where we had plunged so recently. The same tremendous spirit can act as a strength to all those of us who felt close to Marian down through the years.
